In the Hexicom System, you can create Products for multiple uses, for example: eStores, Estimates, Jobs, etc.


This article is going to explain the basics of products, describing briefly how each section operates with links to articles providing a more in-depth explanation on topics relating to the current section.

How To Create A Basic Product


Creating a basic Product in Hexicom system only requires a few steps in order to have a Product ready for use.


Here are the steps:


1. Name the Item Title:


2. The Item Code is generated by the system automatically/or can be changed by the user:



3. Add any Descriptions that the Product may have:

(These Descriptions will display on Estimates, Jobs, Invoices, etc. and will be sent to customers)



4. Pressing "Next" onto Pricing, choose between 3 types of Pricing: Simple Matrix, Price Bands and Large Format Matrix.

5. Then select "Save":

General Tab


There are 4 sections on the general page, these sections have options that control of the general aspects of the product.


Initial Section

The Initial Section is where the main details of the product are configured:


Category Name: Allocates the product to a Category, when you want to have a Product appear in an eStore.

(They will need to be allocated to a category in order to appear in the eStore.)


Item Title: The main title for the product. This title will be used for all instances of the products uses.

For example: Estimates, Jobs, Invoices, etc.


Product Type: Can either be Non-editable or Editable. An Editable product can have a template with fields that can be input by the user, for example Business Cards; users can add their names, Job title, Phone, email, etc.


Draw Stock From: For Stock Products, the stock will need to be drawn from a source, this will give the options of:


Product Thumbnail: Displays the thumbnail of the product in an eStore or in a template for an Estimate, Job, Invoice etc.


Mandatory fields are: Item Title and the Item Code.


Description

Section is for the main descriptions of the product.



Dimensions


Section is for dimension information that the product may have.



Allocation


Section is for eStore related functions, these options control product allocation to a customer eStore.

Pricing Tab


The Pricing type can be selected in this section only when creating a new product, the options to select from are:


- Simple Matrix

- Price Bands

- Large Format Matrix


After a Pricing Type has been selected and saved, it can no longer be changed. However the Quantity and pricing details can still be configured.

eStore Settings Tab


The eStore Settings section contains options that focus on eStore related configurations.


eStore Description

Description fields that can display in the product screen in an eStore.



Function allows for a PDF to be uploaded and used in the product screen, allows the user to download a copy of a

product example PDF.


PDF Watermarks


A function that watermarks the PDF with text.


Product Detail Settings


Section controls how the product will appear in the eStore with added functions like allowing for the user to upload an Artwork File or to display a Print Ready File on the Product screen.


Also controls whether the Product is visible in the eStore.

Additional Options Tab


Additional Options can be allocated to the product in this section, however these Options are created in the Additional Options section. 


They are created using a type of Question and Answer scenario and also requires an associated formula to be created.

There are 3 types of formulas that may be applied to an Additional Option:

- Single Simple Question
- Multiple Choice
- Simple Matrix

Coupon Codes Options Tab


Coupon Codes can be used to allow for a discount on products, which are used exclusively for eStores.
