Overview: We have enhanced the commenting feature across various modules of the system—allowing users to view, edit, and add comments directly from the Estimate, Job, Invoice, Proof, Delivery Note, and Purchase list views.


In addition to viewing and managing comments in list views, you can add comments during the creation process for Estimates, Jobs, and Invoices.



This feature allows you to attach relevant notes when creating an estimate or job etc, ensuring the important details are captured upfront.


Key Features of the Comments function

  1. New List View Column → “Comments” Field:

    • Supported Grid Views:
      • Estimate List View
      • Invoice List View
      • Job List View
      • Proof List View
      • Delivery Note List View
      • Purchases List View
    • Comments are displayed in a dedicated field.
    • The comments field shows up to 100 characters and wraps text for better readability.
    • If no comments exist, the field displays ... in the “Comments” field.


  2. Interactive Comments Field:

    • Comments appear as hyperlinked text but are not underlined to maintain a clean look.
    • Clicking on the comments field allows you to add, edit, or update comments directly from the list view.


  3. Improved Navigation for Comments:

    • Comments do not split or alter how Estimates, Jobs, or Invoices are grouped in the grid view.
    • This ensures consistency in data presentation while enabling easy access to comments.

  4. Integration into Customer Screens:

    • Comments are now displayed under the Cost Center section for better visibility within customer details on the Estimate, Job, and Invoice screens.


How to Use the Enhanced Comments Feature

Viewing Comments

  • Navigate to any list view (e.g., “View All Estimates”).
  • If it has been added to the view, look for the Comments field in the columns.
    • Existing comments will display up to 100 characters.
    • If no comments are present, ... will be shown.

Adding or Editing Comments in the List View

  1. Click the hyperlinked text in the Comments field.
  2. A pop-up editor will appear, allowing you to:
    • Add new comments.
    • Edit existing comments.
  3. Save your changes, and the view will automatically update.

Adding or Editing Comments in an Estimate, Job, or Invoice

  1. When initially creating an Estimate, Job, or Invoice, utilize the Comments section in the bottom-right corner of the first screen in the creation process.


  2. Alternatively, if the Estimate, Job, or Invoice already exists and you need to add a comment, use the “Re-Run Customer Details” button under the “Estimate Options” dropdown (or the “Job Options” or “Invoice Options” dropdowns).
