When creating a large format estimate, the option to calculate by Linear or Square Meter is available (also square foot for non metric systems). The square meter calculation was designed to be used when printing on sheets, the linear calculation was designed to be used when prting on a roll. Making the selection Square Meter will means the cost is based upon the items dimensions and calculates the printing and charges the cost of only the substrate area that is printed on.

When selecting Square Meter, the system calculates the substrate used based upon on the Finished job size multiplied by the Quantity, the result is the value of square meter.

(Finished job size) * (Quantity)

In the image below, 2 items are to be printed, the calculation will assume only the area of the sheet that is to be printed is to be charged.

Within the Square Meter calculation process there is an optional setting that will calculate for the full sheet used, it is called Total Square Meter Area Used. The calculation becomes the Print sheet size (Width multiplied by Height) this value is then multiplied by the next value, which is the Job Quantity divided by the selected print layout. (note the result will be rounded up). The print layout is the number of items that will fit on the sheet.

(Print Sheet Size W * H) * (Job Quantity / The selected Print Layout))
